Major research interests of the group

In vitro and in vivo models of stem cell research:

- Isolation and characterization of stem cell lines from human bone marrow and placental tissues: umbilical cord blood and Wharton’s jelly;

- Differentiation and characterization of endothelial progenitor cells in vitro;

- Cellular biology and biochemistry of blood- vessels in normal and pathological conditions;

- Experimental in vitro and in vivo models of vascular ischemia;

- Molecular mechanisms of fetal and adult stem cells differentiation.

Technical expertise

- Flow Cytometry:
technology and applications;

- Cell biology methods:
experimental animal models, cell culture models (endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells), Light-, (Fluorescence-) and Electron- microscopy, Electrophoresis, Western blot, Elisa, Immunochemistry;

- Molecular biology methods:
HLA-Typing, gene polymorphism, protein electrophoresis, PCR, quantitative Real Time PCR.
